Grösser als Zürich – Kunst in Aussersihl

Kurators Silvio R. Baviera, Michael Hiltbrunner and Guido Magnaguagno are organizing a new MUST SEE art exhibition of the year Grösser als Zürich at Helmhaus Zürich (Limmatquai 31). The exhibition is featuring tons of artists from well known to super young artists from Zurich Kreis 4 area and around. Don`t miss, this Thursday at 18:00. It`s gonna be hot!

Dear Artists and Fashion Designers

la belle et les beaux announces an international call for entries for the event et/ou, which is taking place 5 – 6 Mai 2012 at Starkart Exhibitions in Zürich for the second time. All persons and labels working in art and/or fashion are eligible to submit an application.

The exhibition et/ou, which is taking place during Zurich’s fashion and design weekend Kreislauf 4+5, separates fashion and art from their conventional contexts and gives their meaning a new frame of reference. et/ou allows the two forms of expression to blend and to penetrate each other — in order to give room for the creation of something new. Thereby the intersection of fashion and art is being explored from two sides: While the overlap is being approached under the viewpoint of art in the exhibition area, the subject is being explored from the perspective of the more practical aspect of apparel and accessory design in the shop.

Artists and fashion designers are invited to submit concepts on
the topic of Fortuna ([lat.] chance, fate, fortune, luck) by 19 February 2012. The participants will be chosen by the following team of curators:

Roman Lew (Curator, Starkart), Nicole Billi (Buyer Menswear, Globus), Adrian Reber (Head of Design Knitwear, Hugo Boss), Michael Koritschan (Artist/Photographer, Studio Koritschan)

After the selection artists and designers contribute works to the exhibition as well as the shop. Therefore fashion designers advance into fine art territory, while artists conquer the world of functional objects. Through the reciprocal challenge a convergence of the two means of expression is being sought.

Liebe Kunst- und Modeschaffende

la belle et les beaux lädt alle Interessenten ein, sich für die Veranstaltung et/ou, welche vom 5. bis 6. Mai 2012 bei Starkart Exhibitions in Zürich zum zweiten Mal stattfindet, zu bewerben. Teilnahmeberechtigt sind alle Personen und Labels, die im Mode- und/oder Kunstbereich tätig sind.

Die Ausstellung et/ou, welche im Umfeld des Zürcher Design- und Modewochenendes Kreislauf 4+5 stattfindet, löst Mode und Kunst aus ihren gewohnten Zusammenhängen und stellt sie in einen neuen Sinn- und Betrachtungsrahmen. et/ou lässt die beiden Disziplinen verschmelzen, sich gegenseitig durchdringen – um etwas Neues entstehen zu lassen. Die Schnittstelle von Mode und Kunst wird dabei von zwei Seiten her beleuchtet: Während man sich dem Grenzbereich in der Ausstellung unter dem Aspekt der Kunst nähert, arbeitet man sich im Shop von der alltagstauglicheren Seite der Kleider- und Accessoiregestaltung her an die Thematik heran.

Kunst- und Modeschaffende sind eingeladen, bis zum 19. Februar 2012 Konzepte zum Thema Fortuna ([lat.] Glück, Schicksal) einzureichen. Die Auswahl der Teilnehmer wird durch folgendes Kuratorenteam getroffen:

Nach der Selektion steuern die Künstler und Designer sowohl für die Ausstellung als auch den Shop Werke bei. Entsprechend dringen Modedesigner in das Feld der schönen Künste ein, während Künstler in die Gefilde des Alltagstauglichen vorstossen. In der gegenseitigen Herausforderung wird eine Konvergierung der beiden Ausdrucksformen angestrebt.
